Galveston, Texas, September 30, 2008 -Fema/IP Roads have been heavily damaged from Hurricane Ike as the ground eroded under the paving from storm surge and high winds. This stretch of highway alongside multiple beach communities remains closed to the public as it is unsafe to travel on for miles.
